Prompter is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share information when you use the Prompter Chrome extension and related services. By using Prompter, you agree to the collection and use of information described in this policy.

Information We Collect

Information you provide:
When you create an account, we collect your name and email address through our authentication provider, Clerk. We process the text you submit to Prompter in order to enhance and improve your prompts. If you use workspaces or projects, we collect the names, descriptions, and context you provide so we can personalize prompt generation. If you subscribe to Prompter Pro, payment information is collected and processed by Stripe. We do not store your full credit card number.

Information collected automatically:
We collect limited usage data such as how many prompts you generate, which features you use, and timestamps of activity. We also collect basic device information, including browser type, extension version, and operating system. Certain data, such as preferences, cached workspace data, and authentication tokens, is stored locally in your browser.

Information we do not collect:
We do not collect your browsing history, content from web pages you visit (other than prompts you explicitly submit), passwords, sensitive credentials, or data about your activity across other websites.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to provide and operate Prompter, process and enhance prompts using AI models, personalize your experience using workspace context, manage your account and subscriptions, improve features and performance, communicate important service updates, and prevent abuse or enforce usage limits.

How We Store Your Information

Account data such as email, subscription status, and usage counts is stored in Firebase/Firestore on Google Cloud Platform. Authentication data is securely managed by Clerk. Payment information is stored by Stripe in compliance with PCI-DSS standards. Preferences, cached workspace data, and authentication tokens are stored locally in your browser using Chrome’s storage API. Authentication tokens expire periodically.

Data Retention

Account data is retained while your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time. Usage logs are retained for up to 90 days for analytics and operational purposes. Prompt content is processed in real time and is not permanently stored on our servers.

How We Share Your Information

We share information only with trusted third-party providers that help operate the service, including Clerk for authentication, Stripe for payments, OpenAI and Anthropic for prompt processing, Google Cloud/Firebase for data storage, and Vercel for website hosting. We may also disclose information if required to comply with legal obligations, protect our rights or safety, enforce our terms, or respond to valid legal claims.

We do not sell your personal information, share your data with advertisers, or use your prompts to train AI models.

Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures such as encryption in transit, secure authentication, access controls, and regular security reviews to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your Rights and Choices

You can access and update your account information through your dashboard or by contacting us. You may request deletion of your account and personal data, which we will process within 30 days. You can stop all data collection by uninstalling the extension, and you can remove locally stored data through your browser settings.

Children’s Privacy

Prompter is not intended for children under 13 years of age, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us immediately.

International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own, including the United States. These countries may have different data protection laws. By using Prompter, you consent to these transfers.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page, reflected in the “Last Updated” date, and communicated via email for material changes. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

California residents have the right to request information about the personal data we collect, request deletion of their personal data, and receive equal service without discrimination for exercising their privacy rights.

European Privacy Rights (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have rights under GDPR, including the right to access, correct, delete, restrict processing of, and receive a copy of your personal data, as well as the right to object to certain processing and withdraw consent at any time.
